Hi all,
I'll be in Phuket on a Sunday and really want to check out the Sunday Walking Street Market (aka Lard Yai) on Thalang Road in Phuket Old Town.
I’ve heard it’s a great spot for food, local crafts, and culture — but I’d love to hear your recent experiences!

There’s a Phuket Sunday Market Walking + Food Tour that includes hotel pickup and a guide showing you the best bites:

Has anyone done this or something similar?
Or is it better to go solo and explore freely?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Cheers, Sunee

A few things I’m wondering:
- What’s the best time to arrive? I want to avoid the heaviest crowds but still catch all the action.
- Any must-try food stalls or dishes? I love local snacks, spicy food, and unique treats.
- Is it easy to get there from Patong/Kata? Would tuk-tuk or Grab be the best option, or is a tour worth it?
- Is a guided tour a good idea for first-timers? I’ve seen one with hotel pickup and food tastings included.
Market Highlights (from what I found so far):
- When: Sundays from ~4 PM to 10 PM
- Where: Thalang Road, Phuket Old Town
- What to expect: Live street music, handmade crafts, mango sticky rice, grilled seafood, Hokkien noodles, coconut ice cream, and lots of locals mixed with tourists.
- Vibe: Colorful, friendly, and very photogenic!
