What’s the smartest way to explore Gujarat from Bangalore on a short trip — ideally under a week? Any travel hacks?

Absolutely! If you're short on time but want a fulfilling experience across Gujarat, one of the most efficient ways is to follow a one-direction loop starting from Ahmedabad. This helps avoid backtracking, fits multiple experiences into one journey, and works well for 6-day itineraries.

Here’s a smart route I came across that does just that:

Key Travel Hacks:

  • Start in Ahmedabad: It’s well-connected by train and flight from Bangalore. Use this as your entry point.
  • Route Structure: Ahmedabad → Dwarka → Somnath → Diu → Gir → Junagadh → Back to Ahmedabad. You travel forward in a loop, not zig-zagging.
  • Combo Itinerary: This plan covers spiritual sites (Dwarka, Somnath), coastal chill spots (Diu), and a Gir jungle safari—all without wasting extra days.
  • Low internal transit costs: Major transfers are by road, which reduces dependence on intercity flights or multiple train bookings.
  • Wildlife + Temples: It’s rare to combine a safari and two Jyotirlingas in one short trip—this route fits it perfectly.

This itinerary is great for family vacations, solo trips, or even group tours. I personally like how it includes a wide range of experiences—temples, beaches, heritage, and nature—within a very efficient schedule.

Hey devs,

Bit of a different kind of optimization here—travel planning instead of queries and controllers.

I recently took a break and planned a 5-day trip to Gujarat starting from Bangalore. Being someone who likes structure (Laravel habits, I guess), I wanted a route that was clean, minimal in backtracking, and didn’t burn me out. What worked best for me was using a pre-framed itinerary as a base and customizing from there.

Here’s the link I used to start building my trip:

It lays out a few sample routes—especially helpful if you're flying in from Bangalore, Chennai, or Ahmedabad. I took the Bangalore → Rajkot route and then did a loop:
Dwarka → Porbandar → Somnath → Diu → Gir → Junagadh → Ahmedabad

No repeated stops. Everything felt smooth, like a well-coded API response.
Some travel-specific smart tips:

  • Cache your route maps offline (signal drops in Diu and Gir)
  • Use IRCTC’s auto-retry tool for waitlist trains
  • Travel during weekdays to avoid the crowd (less load = faster darshan 😄)
  • If you’re doing temple + leisure, plan darshan early mornings and beach/wildlife in the afternoon

Also, if you’re remote-working or freelancing while on the move, Diu has solid cafes with decent Wi-Fi.

Hope that helps anyone else here looking to switch off, clear your head, and maybe come back to code with a fresh mind.

Hey travelers,

I’ve been mapping out a cultural trip across western India and wondering if anyone here has done a Gujarat tour from Chennai — specifically around the Saurashtra circuit (Dwarka, Somnath, Gir, Bhuj, Diu, etc.)?

I recently found this gujrat tour packages from chennai and while it seems well-organized, I’m more interested in hearing from people who’ve actually done the route — either independently or through a tour.

From what I gather, most packages start from Ahmedabad or Rajkot after a train or flight from Chennai. Then the route usually includes:

  • Dwarka (Lord Krishna’s temple – Char Dham spot)
  • Somnath (Jyotirlinga by the coast — amazing sunset views)
  • Gir National Park (the last home of Asiatic lions — curious how the safari experience really is)
  • Diu (chill beaches, Portuguese vibe)
  • Bhuj/Kutch (craft villages, white desert, especially during Rann Utsav)

I’m mainly into temple architecture, local culture, wildlife, and slow travel — so this seems to tick a lot of boxes. Would love to know:

  • Is it manageable without a package (local transport, stay, guides)?
  • How touristy is it? Or is it still fairly raw in parts?
  • Any underrated spots along the route?
  • Best time of year to avoid extreme weather?

Planning to travel sometime between November and February. Open to doing it independently or semi-organized with a group if that’s easier logistically.

Appreciate any tips or route tweaks! Especially from solo travelers or couples who’ve done this on a medium budget.
